This is very last minute, but we are very pleased to announce our next Philly GGUG meet up. Hans Dockter, the creator of Gradle, will be making a short stop in the Philly area on Friday June 11 and has agreed to give a talk about the current state and future of Gradle.

Gradle is a build tool that uses a Groovy DSL as the mechanism by which you describe your build process, no more messy XML. It provides out of the box build-by-configuration capabilities for Java, Groovy, Web, and Scala projects as well as a number of plug-ins. Recently the Grails team adopted Gradle as the build tool for the entire Grails project. If you are looking for an alternative to building your project that provides both convention based builds like Maven and declarative capabilities similar to Ant, then you must check out Gradle.
